To Shave or Not to Shave

Image
Before anyone gets excited or grossed out, let me be clear that this is NOT a posting about me. :p I haven't been updating much on Ayisha's development lately or how much she's grown. But first i'd like to share our concern of her NON-growing hair! I would like to think that her hair's grown much longer than before but when i looked back at older pics, there really wasn't much difference. Some even looked as if she's got more hair than she does now! This was taken just after her 1st birthday, about 7 months ago: At 16 months: At 18 months: Not that much difference yeah? Every once in a while, i'll comb her hair this way to see how long it is: The above was taken when she was only about 10 months. This one below was taken about 10 days ago! Michael doesn't like this look. It reminded him of Donald Trump. The only ponytail i could get out of her. I longed to get her those cute colorful clips and ribbons - lil joys that come from ...

Not Just Another Zoo

When we first got here, I noticed a sign to 'Kebun Binatang' (Animal Farm) on the roads of Bali. I was a bit 'slow' and it didn't click to me that 'Kebun Binatang' = Zoo. In my mind it's probably just a small little farm with chicks & ducks tucked somewhere far away. So i never thought of promoting it when my family & friends from M'sia came to visit. They weren't really interested anyway cos surely the animals are kinda similar right. Last weekend, a friend asked if we wanted to join her family to the zoo. We weren't that keen at first but said yes anyway cos we thought it would be fun to hang out with them and Ayisha would enjoy the animals & have fun with Charlie, their son who goes to the same playgroup. When we asked for directions, they said to follow the signs to Bali Safari & Marine Park when at the main highway, which I thought is just a fancy name for this 'Kebun Binatang'/zoo. As we enter, the place looke...

When Mummy Cries

I finally did it. I left Ayisha at school. The 1st time she was fine, I was not. The 2nd time we were both fine so I went to do the groceries and told her she'd see me after snack time (an hour later). I did have every intention to come back before snack time but i had a slow cashier (ok, i went looking for treats for me!) and got back 1/2 hour after snack time so she was asleep when i got there. The teacher said after snack time she started crying and took her bag and went to the door. She cried the whole 1/2 hour to sleep. How bad did that make me feel? Clinging to her for the rest of the day and let her watch wiggles all afternoon BAD. Moral of the story - keep your promises! The 3rd time, I tried leaving her a bit earlier. Normally I'd stay for the group singing where all the kids from 2-5 years of age would sing together for about 15 mins before they go to their own age group classrooms. She'd continue holding my hands till we get to class and we would both slowly le...
