My Christmas & End of Year Story

Image
This is my 3rd Christmas with the Laidlers. The 1st was in 2006 when i first got here. My 2 sisters and my ma were with us for my OZ wedding and Chrissy day was rushed cos they had to catch a flight back home. Last year was another kinda rushed Chrissy cos we had to catch a flight to New Zealand. This year, no one's going anywhere so we spent the whole Chrissy day at my in-laws and were the last ones leaving late at nite. It was a looong day filled with too much food, warm loving family and great ho ho fun. The family part felt a lot like Raya but instead of rendang & duit raya, it's turkey and presents. As always, i loooooooove seeing how Michael is with his family. It was actually the 1st time (besides his childhood years) that he had spent Xmas all day with his family. In the past, some years, he'd be away travelling, other years he'd be in Malaysia and almost any other years, after Xmas lunch, he'd head straight to the caravan for a 2-3 week long Xma...

Same Same But Different Tag

I think this is similar to this tag . But it's the merry season and i am in blogging mode and most importantly, i don't wanna disappoint my tagger (is this what they call it?), Ateen . So now u'll know another 7 facts about me. Rules: Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog. 1. When i hang my laundry to dry, i have to hang em in an organised and orderly manner - undies all one row, work shirts one row, pants another row, baju tidur another, get the picture? Not only that, my clothes and Michael's clothes also to be on separate rows. Sometimes kalau over, i even use the same colored pegs per row. Michael would help hang the clothes s'times and id secretly change em around when he's not looking (cos i don't want him to not ever do it anymore, u see) but last few weeks du...

It's a Season to Be Jolly...

The holiday season's here. Work is slowing down a bit cos lots of peeps are already on leave. I am only taking 1 day off this time, but i'll still get 2 weeks of 4-day long weekends. Woohoo! Working whilst everyone else's on hols is always fun. Especially at this new location surrounded by shopping malls - im all set. I love my new office. Everything's new and my desk is pretty spacious with a nice view. Our team is located close to the lifts, toilets and kitchen. The kitchen's magnificent! Bigger than my living room & kitchen combined, complete with a massive 3-door fridge overloaded with different types of milk - skim, full or soy and fruit juices. All other hot drinks and kitchen appliances provided and i get to watch Oprah on the flat screen tv while having my lunch. We were dreading the move in the first place cos we'd be in the same floor as our top management. But with all the facilities and the big bosses not being such busybodies, it's been gr...

"Where Else Am I Gonna Go" - EC

The day i had my scan - 16th December, also happens to be my Aussie wedding anniversary. It's Michael's turn this time so what did he plan for us? Watch TWILIGHT of course, Gold Class style! kikikikiki.... My opinion? Tak puassssnyaaaaa! I felt like so much's missing. I wanted a whole lot more. I can't wait for the next movie to come out. Hurry up already. I felt like the relationship between Bella & Edward was so rushed. Everything happened too quickly. And i also didnt get enough of the Cullens. So sikit their scenes. I miss them, man! Michael's opinion? He likes it..not as much as me of course but when i told him that i didnt get enough Bella & Edward story like in the book, he thought what was showed in the movie was the right amount. Any longer and he'd get a bit bored, like where's this movie going? So he thought it was just right when the baseball scene came out and all the other actions happening after that. I think most times he's ...

I have got SOOOOOOO much to tell but i have been crazy busy. Work's piling up cos xmas break is coming and everyone wants to get everything done asap. In the middle of it all, we've also been preparing to move office. Past few days been busy with all the packing and stuff. We finally moved in today and the new place is AWESOME! Would love to talk more about my great new location, but more important than that - Ive seen TWILIGHT!! woohooo!! Desperately wanna talk about that of course..but, but, but...what i most wanna talk about is this.... There's something growing in my tummy! Look ere my lil'un... Cute or not?? heheh...I know there's a lot of pressure out there for me to produce cute babies, but let me tell ya, i think this one's got a Jawa nose like mine...:p Im now 3 months pregnant. ;))) Didnt talk about it earlier because over here, they don't normally tell people till they reach the 3 month crucial period, u know, just in case something happ...

Twilight, Twilight and More Twilight...

I can't believe this. I think by the time this movie crawls super slowly down its way to Down Under, almost everyone i know would've seen this movie. From what i read in the reviews, a lot of fans don't really enjoy the movie as much as the book but they go nuts over Edward Cullen anyways. From what i heard from friends & fam, those who haven't read the book LOOOOOVE the movie and those who have, don't enjoy the movie as much..but they still go nuts over Edward anyway. As my sister Limah puts it, 'hilang nafas jap' when Edward Cullen first appeared. :p Memang melampau! But i think i'll be hyperventilating too.. Im not mad at those lucky peeps who've seen the movie, no no no. Just very very jealous, yes yes yes. Why can't the movie be here already? Last weekend, between watching my Friends DVDs for the umphteenth time and checking out movies on TV Shack on the net, I ALMOST 'cheated' on Edward by clicking at the Twilight movie, w...

Rockstars & Satay in My Living Room

This happened not last Saturday, but last, last Saturday. I've been so slacked, I know. But this time i've got an excuse. I wanted to include pics & a video with this post but our connection at home has been giving us grief lately and Im not comfortable uploading them at work, see. So this post kept getting postponed till now lah. Still no pics & video but i thot i should jz update my blog. Plus, Michael's been bugging me to either update my blog or tell him stories via email while he's working. Yeah, he does that every now n then when he's either too busy or too bored. Penglipur lara le konon-konon. But im running out of story ideas and intros - asyik2 'once upon a time' and 'not so long ago', so im updating this! So that Saturday we had our Malaysian friends over for a post raya get together cum housewarming for those who couldnt make our first one. OKlah, actually the real reason for this gathering is - to play our Wii Guitar Hero World ...

Movember

Image
I have stories to tell but a bit malas to write. Some stories a lil bit basi, like how my sister Limah finally left and leaving me all sad & moping. That's 2 weeks ago! New stories osso got, but i might hafta keep some for my next post cos i think this one's gonna be pretty lengthy. Limah ku Sayang The rest of the 2 weeks she was here we continued doing her favorite thing - makan, makan and more makan. One weekend we went down the caravan where she played with all the kangaroos. Play as in, campak roti from 2 metres and run like crazy when the Roos started hopping. That's ok, that's how i play too..hehehe. It took a lot of encouraging & sweet talking (to Limah & the kangaroo) from Michael to get her to do this. By the way, check out the lil Joey! soo cute! Another weekend we went to Nelson Bay. Limah loves the beaches. So most times she'd be hanging out with Michael swimming, snorkelling & having long walks on the beach. They bonded pretty we...

Whilst She's Here...

Image
Having my youngest sister, Limah here has been truly fantastic so far. First up, i made her read the Twilight series so that i have 'geng' to gush about Edward Cullen (driving Michael even more insane!). Secondly, altho being the youngest entitled her to be a bit spoilt, she's actually excellent with housework. She's been helping me with the laundry, vacuuming, stacking dishes in the dishwasher, help preparing meals, garbage duty etc. She's also been very comfortable during the weekdays doing her own thing while Michael & I are both at work. Of course i can't help calling her every freaking time making sure she's all good. But she's fine & more than capable to take care of herself -catching the train to shop around the Shire, hanging out with my MIL, Imelda or even just entertaining herself at home with Wii, TV Shack, the many DVDs, the internet & Edward Cullen. I always hafta keep reminding myself that she's already 22 and not 12! I th...

A Wonderful Eid Surprise

Image
Guess what? My lil sister Limah - is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, she's here in Sydney. She arrived yesterday morning and will be here for about 1 month! She bought with her 20kg bag full of RAYA goodness from my ma & pa & sisters & everyone back home. WOOOHOOO! I have absolutely ZERO knowledge that she's coming. She was my big surprise Eid + Xmas gift that Michael has been keeping from me for the past 3 weeks. Im still shocked by it all and how he's successfully pulled it off. I did not know about it at all till i actually saw Limah pushing her trolley down the ramp of the arrival hall. He's been scheming with my other sister, Wa, who didnt even breathe a word to me about it eventho we've been in constant contact few days leading up to Raya (so much for sisterhood loyalty!) but i know it's killing her as much as it's killing Michael keeping this wonderful surprise from me. Michael was so over the top he even went behind my back and cont...

My First Aussie Eid Fitr

Image
Im sure a lot of my friends & fam back home are still on Raya hols. Im back at work 2nd day of Eid. I would've loathe going back on 2nd raya day if i was back home but here, i guess Im ok. I don't really need to take more than 1 day off, not like we have any open houses to go to. :p The night before Raya was probably the hardest bit. I was trying to call home but with no success. I was trying to do stuff around the house but dunno what. Between SMS'es with my sisters giving me updates - mopping the floor, making last min honey cornflakes cookies with my nieces n nephew, main bunga api etc.. I knew exactly what i would be doing if i was there. For a lot of years, it's always been me & my 2 lil sisters - Wa & Limah. Even if my other bros & sisters were not around (in laws' turn), the 3 of us would always be there with ma & pa. Our last task would be to bring out all the raya drink glasses, plates & cutlery, fill up the balangs with kuih raya ...

Are U a Twilighter?

We went to Adam & Amber's for Jaydan's 10th birthday last Friday nite. When we arrived, Vicki was right at the door waiting for me anxiously, spreading a double page of WHO magazine featuring a pic of Edward & Bella with an article on Stephenie Meyer, the author. Vicki: Have you seen this? Me: NOOOOOOO! (grabbing the mag) but ive seen the movie trailer & interviews and everything and.. Vicki: NOOOOO ur worse! i wouldnt wanna know anything till the movie's out...hang on, are you.. Me: A Twilighter? YES I AM!!! Vicki: i thot so! After the party, hugging our goodbyes.. Me: I can't stop reading but i dunno if i wanna finish em too soon! i dont want it to end.. Vicki: I know!!! im sad now. I miss the CULLENS!!! i really really miss them!! (almost like throwing tanties) Darren (Vicki's hubby): What? What's wrong Vick? What's going on? Who's this? (panic & very concerned voice) Vicki: No one...it's the book again! Tom,...

Obsessed!!

Image
Two words... EDWARD CULLEN. I've just finished reading this in only 2 days!! Im now reading the sequel, and i don't think i can stop till im done reading the 3rd book in this series and the final, And then i'll continue to drive Michael mad by obsessing about the Twilight movie scheduled to be out in November. Woohoo!! Is anyone out there as obsessed about Edward Cullen as I am? PLEASE stand up! I first heard about Edward (cheh, like talking bout ex bf jek) in the evening MX newspapers that we train commuters get for free coming back from work. Besides the SUDOKU game, there's a section called 'Vent Your Spleen' in it that i'd pay attention to. It's where people can send smses to say whatever they wanted to say about anyone and anything - complaining about bad manners of people on the train, complimenting someone for their kind gestures or even talking about the weather. So a few weeks ago, for a good 4-5 days, the name Edward...

A Night at the Mediterranean

Last Saturday we celebrated Vicki's 25th birthday (she's forever 25) under the watchful eyes of Cleopatra, Nefertiti & King Tutenkhamen. Seated in Cleopatra's Lounge at Pharaoh's Restaurant with 20 other guests, we enjoyed the never ending flow of Egyptian & Mediterranean cuisines and the mesmerizing moves of the exotic belly dancer. We knew we're in for a BIG treat with the banquet feast of 14 mezza dishes plus 3 mains which, by the way, are all halal, woohoo! But the boys got an even bigger treat when halfway thru the nite, an amazingly beautiful figure with perfectly tanned skin, minimally covered by a tantalising gold costume, appeared from behind the curtains and started shaking her booty like no one's business. She was very very attractive and extremely talented. The whole performance was so very entertaining but a teeny bit unexpected maybe. Well, i didn't really know what to expect cos it was my first belly dance show. To me she's ju...

Our Ramadan Social Life

Sometimes i forget that the majority of people here don't even know that it's Ramadan. Even if they do, they don't really have any idea what Ramadan is. If they do know that we're fasting, lots of questions will be asked about when and what we can eat and we get the occasional 'that's so wrong for your body, not even having water bla bla' . Michael's answer to that, which i absolutely love is '2 billion muslims all over the world can't be wrong!' There's a lot more temptation here that im still getting used to which Im sure is a lot harder for Michael. Besides the many questions, some out of curiosity and some just a teeny bit irritating, we also get friends & family, knowing that we're fasting, showing off food in front of us, perhaps trying to be funny with 'oohs and aaahs this is yummm' comments and practically shoving food in our face. At first i was pretty annoyed, not so much for myself but on behalf of Michael. ...
