Read 1 Book a Month..

Image
..at least!!!  This is one of the things that's on my list. Oh and note-to-self: Ayisha's Princess & Dora books do not count, ok. Many years ago, when I was actively trying to excel in one of those Multi Level Marketing thingy (hint: A****y), I heard this quote for the first time:   “Five years from today, you will be the same person that you are today, except for the books you read and the people you meet.”   ..and it has stuck with me. Since then, I have always had it in my to-do list. It started out rather ambitiously with 2 books per week (whoaah!)  especially during those pre-marriage & pre-babies years. But I've never been able to tick them off the list, ever. Last year it was down to 2 books a month. Didn't happen either. *hampeh* So let's hope this year is the year! Actually, I have my moments with books. Sometimes I can go months without remembering the last book I read and other times I'd find myself reading 3-4 bo...

Dora for Squeaky, Edward for Me

Image
Our Christmas joy, Ayisha's: Dora overload Mummy's: Edward overload Not as much as Ha's but I also did get a movie voucher from my Kris Kringle to watch Breaking Dawn, finally! Woohoooo! So that alone is worth more than 1000 Dora, sorry Squeak! :p Lucky for me it was still playing in Sydney while we're there. I tried to watch it in Bali with my girlfriends but the whole cinema scene here is not so happening lah . They couldn't even tell what's going to be screening until the day itself and no bookings are allowed. I was making peace with the idea of watching it on DVD later on but I guess I was destined to watch Mr & Mrs Cullen's wedding on the big screen - "Thanks for waiting, Edward" ( echeh..kikiki, over gil e!) I went with my sister, Wa, who also got her ticket from her Kris Kringle. There's only 6 of us in the cinema, plenty of room for us two to drool & hyperventilate throughout the movie. I enjoyed every single bi...

Eat Pray Love

Ive just finished reading this book by Elizabeth Gilbert. It's SO good i didnt want it to end. I've heard about this book sometime last year but not until i saw the author on Oprah last month that actually made me look for the book and by then, of course, like all other books featured in Oprah, it was sold out everywhere in Sydney. Luckily my MIL got the book for her birthday last year and lent it to me because she couldn't get me a copy (it was on my birthday wish list :p) Im not gonna spoil it for those who haven't read it yet but in short, it's about the author's search for happiness after a devastating divorce and found pleasure in Italy, peace in India and the balance of both in Bali. I extremely enjoy the Italy part of her story - what with all the Italian men, romance, gelato and especially about the best pizza in the world. To my friend Nog, who's going to Naples soon (i so envy u right now!) this is for you - what Elizabeth Gilbert said in her w...

Movie Marathon ANZAC Weekend

Image
We had a long weekend last week cos Friday was ANZAC public holiday. Supposed to go down the caravan but Michael fell really ill and at the last minute - 1 hour into the drive down the coast and after we stopped by kebab stall for dinner, he decided he couldn't continue on and would rather rest at home. I wasn't fussed either way cos caravan wouldnt be enjoyable with him all sick (me gotta do everything lah!) :p He's all good again after 24 hours but we thought it's best for him to jz rest the whole weekend and so decided to stay home and do NOTHING! So the long weekend was spent jz lazing around, lots of eating and watched all these on DVD: 1. Gallipoli - in the spirit of ANZAC, was hoping to learn more about the whole Gallipoli-ANZAC history but didn't learn so much in it. Mel Gibson was SOOOO young in it! 2. The Bucket List - Jack Nicholson & Morgan Freeman, gr8 actors but movie so-so.. 3. I Could Never Be Your Woman - never heard of this b4, but Mich...

Everyone's Reading and/or Watching...

I heard bout The Secret few weeks ago from K.Yuz and the title itself was very intriguing. So far, ive been enjoying all the books that she'd recommend from time to time - Da Vinci Code, Tuesdays with Morrie.. so when she mentioned bout this new book she read that she absolutely love and helped her tremendously, i went looking and got one for myself. I didnt know it was a motivational/self-help book and was thrilled to find out that it is. I love these kinds of readings. I even read the skeptic and anti self-help book reviews and in the end, i'd rather feel good about myself instead of being negative. As i am already a very very lazy person, i need all the positivity i could get! In all the motivational books that i read, it's almost all the same - dream, work hard = success. In everything that u do, uve got to work hard for it, i do believe that but i also know how very lazy i am and im also without a dream. Up till now, i still dunno what i wanna do! Few yrs ago i rea...
