The Last Week

Image
I went for my last check-up yesterday. Everything's good. The baby has definitely turned and is facing the right direction. The heartbeat & movements are strong and there's not enough room for him to move all the way back up again. Just to stretch, kick and punch like crazy.   I also got my Group B Strep (GBS) results and just like my 1st pregnancy, it came back positive. I'm not sure if they do this test anywhere else but what it means is that I'd have to be on antibiotics during labour. It's actually a type of bacteria that about a quarter of women carry in the vagina and there's no symptoms. It doesn't affect me at all but can be quite harmful for the baby apparently. So the antibiotics are necessary to help prevent it being transferred to the baby.   I do have another check-up scheduled for the next 2 weeks, just in case the baby decided to hang around & chill in my belly for a bit longer but the midwife said because Ayisha came quite o...

Older & Fatter

Image
Last week I celebrated another birthday. Happy Birthday to Me! Oh, and I am still pregnant. About a week or so to go now and am getting fatter everyday.  The last time I celebrated my birthday in Oz was 3 years ago, when I was a fatty too, pregnant with Ayisha. The weather's cold, chocolates & cakes aplenty, no guilt whatsoever in having my 3rd piece of cake on the same day and still having cake a week later. The baby needs it lah .   I think I mentioned before that when I hit the 30's, i seem to always forget how old I actually am when people ask about my age or when filling forms. I have to use my fingers to do the math. There's something about having kids too. When Ayisha came along, it was just so much more exciting to look forward to her birthday, her party & her presents.  Having said all that, I love being loved and remembered on my birthday. This year was no different. I had a wonderful celebration. With Michael, birthdays are celebrated ...

Crab Walking at 34 Weeks

Yesterday, I had my 1st booking in appointment at the hospital that I'm going to give birth in - a public hospital in the Shire about 15 mins from home, the same one we went to when we had Ayisha. It's obviously very late for a 1st appointment but they understood that we've been living in Bali and happily accepted us anyway. I haven't given birth anywhere else in the world so I couldn't really compare but I had such a lovely & pleasant experience with Ayisha the last time, I really didn't mind having it here again. The midwives were wonderful and took great care of us all. It made me feel a tiny bit guilty that it doesn't cost us anything - it's all free! The appointment went quite well. Everything's going along pretty nicely but apparently the baby is in a breech position (head up, bottom down). It's not a major concern yet as according to Cindy, the midwife in charge, there's still time and room for the baby to move to a desired posi...

Almost Half Way There

I'm about 4 1/2 months pregnant now. Wow, that went by pretty quick. I don't think I look pregnant yet but I definitely feel & look fat. I went for my monthly check-up last weekend and found out I've put on 2kg in a month. My clothes are feeling rather tight around the tummy and my arms. Don't really understand why the arms but they absolutely feel like at least a kilo fatter - my sleeves keep getting stuck at the elbows when putting & taking my top off.  As discussed in my  previous pregnancy  as to the shape of the tummy, I think this time it's a watermelon too. Which means it's not pointy at all but rather spread out flabbily across ( belambak gitu ). Which means, when my friends see me they say 'hey, you're still not showing yet but you do look a bit chubbier', while poking my hips. Which also means, I think I'm having a girl.  With Ayisha, we didn't find out the sex of the baby. The whole surprise element is apparently a very ...

The next Squeaky!!!! A lot of you guys are absolutely correct! We are going to be a family of 4 by May next year, Insya'Allah. :) We've had 'the code' on our fridge for the last few months but people who came to visit and saw it couldn't guess the right answer. So, bravo bravo bravo!!!! :))) And thank you for the wishes too, we're very very excited! I am 3 months pregnant now and just had my 1st scan few days ago in KL. Looks pretty much similar to Squeaky's 1st scan but I think the nose is not as flat.heheehehh The whole experience is very different than when I had Ayisha, except for the morning sickness. Urgh..I forgot how horrible morning sicknesses can be. By the way, it should be called all day sickness too. I was weak, nauseous & blergh the whole day most of the time and really not up to doing anything. Then the 2nd trimester came and I don't know if it's a mental thing or what but the nausea has somewhat subsided and I think I'...

The Last Week

Yes, the bun is still cooking in the oven. hehehe always wanted to say that :p In other words, the baby's not out yet. Im still carrying my lil'un and loving every moment of it. Part of me just can't wait to see him out and hold him and squeeeeeeeze him. But part of me is truly happy to have him in my tummy just for lil bit longer. Just 6 more days till the due date. This is probably my last post before becoming a mother. (say what?) I know i wanted to write more & post more tummy pics bla bla - as you can see, that has not been happening lah. Tomorrow night my parents will be leaving KLIA and arriving Sydney Wednesday morning! woohoo! So im thinking i won't be blogging much whilst they're here and somewhere in between the lil'un will come...so unless im gonna be REALLY late and really need to blog about it, this is my last pregnancy post i guess. The house is now pretty much ready for my parents, my sister Wa and for the baby. Yesterday, Tom & Imeld...

Nesting at 37 Weeks

Image
No, the baby's not out yet. I've just been busy around the house and there's been a lot of changes happening in our lives. Last Friday was my last day at work. I started my maternity leave at week 37. Over here, they normally leave work 4-6 weeks before the baby's due. I have to get a Dr's letter to show the company that I am ok to work 3 weeks before the due date. I know a lot of people back in Malaysia work up till their due date. Most of them still driving to work! So yeah, i've been doing a lot of stuff around the house. Last weekend, we finally got around to getting our wardrobes for our room! After almost a year, we finally have wardrobes, yippee!! We've been taking our time looking around for the perfect wardrobe. In the end, we finally went to IKEA, went straight to the wardrobe section, wrote down the codes of stuff that we knew we wanted, straight down to pick up what we needed and we're out of there in 1 1/2 hour - SO not right. :p I think...

Dessert Overdose + Fun & Games at 35 Weeks

Image
Last weekend was another busy one for us. I was supposed to have dinner at a friend's place last Friday night but Michael ended up going alone cos i was all sick. Few nights before that, i actually vomitted again. A big one. It comes and goes. Some nights im perfectly fine. Then some other nights i'd just feel nauseous again and just so so blergh so Michael's been cooking quite a bit. I was glad i was all fine the next day for our 2nd & last antenatal class. This time, we didn't quite have enough time to play with more toys. There's lots of group discussions and it ended with a tour of the maternity ward. We learned more about all the drugs available for the labour, post natal depression and lots of information on how and where to get help after the baby's born. They not only help you whilst you're in hospital for the 3-4 days; when you get home, the midwives will come visit & help with the baby. Every new mother is entitled to this and it's ...

Seafood Platter, Antenatal Class & A Wedding

Image
Belated Mother's Day Celebration Last Friday night, we took Michael's parents to Sea Level - a seafood restaurant at Cronulla beach for a belated Mother's Day treat. My SIL, Vicki & hubby Darren also joined us and we all had the seafood platter for two. It was HUGE and it was gooooooood! First time having watermelon juice here that's just like home! It was also a little thank you from us for all the many many things that they've done especially in this past couple of months in anticipation of the arrival of our lil'un. Seriously, i think 90% of the things that we have in our baby room or the new stuff that we've got for the house for that matter, came from Michael's parents -baby seat, my maternity clothes, my big comfy bolster that helps a lot with me sleeping comfortably at nite, rugs, curtains, to name a few. Whenever i ask Michael to get something done or discuss the things that we need for the house/baby room, he'd always joke that ...

Babymoon at 33 Weeks

Image
I talked about babymoon earlier in my pregnancy: The term babymoon actually means a holiday that you & your partner take before the 1st baby comes. It's like honeymoon but with a baby on the way. It's the last one u have as a couple but the first one with the 3 of you. Last weekend, we had ours. It was not as long as our honeymoon but it was so much needed and i enjoyed every moment of it! We headed to the Central Coast, instead of going the usual south, and stayed at Mantra Resort , Ettalong Beach. It was supposed to be only about a 1 1/2 hour drive to get there but we had to battle thru Sydney crazy peak hour traffic after work on Friday and got there a bit later than expected. But it was all well worth it. We were lucky enough to get a room at the resort at a very good deal, thanks to Michael's super kind colleague who offered his family's apartment after hearing about how Michael wanted to take me for a babymoon. Well actually, Michael thinks it's part...
