Work Story!!
Im here!!!! Lots of things happening..so much to say, so lil time! Anyways, today is exactly 2 weeks of me working in my new job. Where? Surprise surprise! The biggest TelCo in the country. Doing what? Procurement - my job now is exactly what i was doing when i first started with my previous TelCo job. It's quite a step back actually but im happy to learn it all over again. It's also a breeze cos we're using the exact same system. Too technical to explain it all but being one of the few to know and use the system daily in my previous job, helps me tremendously in my new one and probably the biggest reason why i was hired straight away. They wanted someone urgently to replace a staff going on maternity who happens to be the only one doing this particular job. So it was good timing. The job's pretty straightforward. Not so much management stuff. Could be mundane after a few weeks, but it's a 6 month contract anyway and the way we do things here are def different than back home. So it's definitely a good start for my Aussie working experience i guess. Im hoping id be made permanent sooooon - 3 months maternity! Or 6 months half pay man!
The best thing of all is that - i get paid WEEKLY!!!!! SO jakun! I just got my 1st pay 2 days ago!! VERY exciting! Tho i think it can be pretty dangerous cos u'll tend to spend more $$ cos it's always there!! Being in the city and walking thru the many food & clothes shop especially in Queen Victoria Building doesnt help either! I found a closer way to the station that doesnt hafta go thru QVB but then it's close to the biggest Woolworths supermarket where they sell TimTams for just $1.50 instead of $4! And $1.00 Aeros instead of $3. And 50 cents toblerone!!!! How to resist?! Cold weather some more...:p
So yeah, my office's in the city and ..and..it faces the Darling Harbour! woohoo!! It's only the 2nd floor tho. hehe.. but i love it! Early morning, Michael would drop me off at the train station, same station where my SIL, Vicki's been taking her train, so we pick her up first and we get on the train together every morning! Takes about 1/2 hour to get there then walk about 5-10 mins to my Darling Park office. It's winter here so i love walking against the wind together with all other fast paced walking peeps in their different coats and scarves and beannies and boots and gloves. I leave work at about 5 and Michael would pick me up from the station from work and we'd be home together by about 6.30. Enough time to cook dinner, which we've been doing alternately so far. In fact, Michael just cooked a very delish nasi goreng with our left over tomyam soup from the other day and accompanied by keropok udang that my ma sent me thru my cousin!! Yummmmm!
My boss and colleagues are pretty cool. All so friendly, extremely helpful. We're all the same level and report to one lady boss, who's been really nice so far. Pretty firm & strict yet very flexy. Come & leave whenever, break as many times as long as work's done. Everyone's been really nice. Ive been getting concerns from fam & friends back home bout their reaction towards me being different with me wearing tudung and all. Truthfully, so far, it's been great, alhamdulillah. They've all been wonderful and i feel very very comfortable. Im not that different anyway cos there's such a diversified group of people in the office. There's another M'sian, a few Pakistanis, a girl from Egypt and lots of others from China, Indonesia and India. More diversified than when i was working back home!
So there, my work story! Oh, oh! Another good news, my SPOUSE VISA has also been APPROVED!! I got it the same week i started work. Which doesnt change much cos ive already got permission to work, but it does mean that i can go home for RAYA!!!!!! So yess, im coming back in October!! Ive already taken 2 weeks off from work!! Yeaaa!! ;)
So in the past busy weeks, we also managed to fit in a trip to Canberra! Well, i hafta get my passport renewed so we decided to make a a weekend out of it. Took Friday off (2nd day of work, already taking leave! I don't get paid if i cuti tho, something to get used to!) Passport processing was painless. Was ready the same day. Canberra was known as a boring state but we did have a great time! Took the opportunity to do touristy stuff. Questacon - so "BESSSST"! It's a science centre but a fun one!! Very hands on and we were like lil kids trying the different kinds of stuff on display. All we could think of was how soo much cooler and more fun it would be if we have our nieces & nephews here with us!! Kids will definitely love it! War Memorial was so much better than we thot, not enuff time tho cos it's REALLY huge! Parliament house was pretty amazing. Great architecture. The most fun was trying all the different halal restaurants while we're there. Michael printed out a whole list of restaurants before we leave and we're struggling to fit all em them in our schedule! We were craving for FRIED CHICKEN and they have Kingsley halal fried chicken that's almost as good as KFC! Ate way too much kebab. We also went to Pancake Parlour, (Wa, lupa nak bagitau, best gile!) me & my sisters' (Wa & Limah) fav makan place in Melbourne. Apparently, they only have branches in Melbourne & Canberra. None in Sydney!! HOW COULD THIS BE??????????? All and all, it was a very satisfying trip, especially for the tummy!

We came back just in time for Tom's (my FIL) birthday celebration!
Last weekend was pretty busy too. I had to meet up with my cousin (Rudy's bro) Dye, who's in Canberra while i was there but didnt get to meet cos he's super busy. We're even at the Hicom together at the same time where i did my passport and he had his course. So we catched up on the last day he's in Sydney and took him to Yum Cha and sent him off at the airport. Was good to catch up with him. Truly glad we did. Not sure when we're gonna meet again cos he will be staying in the US for work for a few years!
That same day our friend Stu & Mai came over for afternoon tea, where Michael & Stu talked business and me & Mai gossiped. It was fun to catch up with them! That same nite also, we had a Medieval Theme Party to go to. We've just been so busy we haven't got a chance to look at costumes. There's not much choice left at the last minute and it's pretty expensive to hire the whole costume just for one nite so i ended up just getting a purple medieval hat and Michael couldnt get anything in his size and ended up being a Medieval WOLF! :p Tom won the Best Costume Award dressing as Ye Lord! He looked soo cute! It was a fun fun nite!!

The other nite my skype video worked again and i had a great time catching up with Wa and seeing my nieces & nephew again. They're all grown up!! Missing them lots! 96 sleeps till i'm back for Raya!!!!!
Also, this weekend my Mikhail Ashaz turns 1. It's been a year already since he reverted, can't believe how time flies! I hope we'll continue growing and learning together and be blessed always, babe..Happy Birthday, my one and only MA!!
