Spectacular Seafood Booffaay!
How do u guys pronounce BUFFET? Like me, boo-fay..or like Michael and the rest of them here, baff-fay? Before this, i've only heard Chandler pronouncing it "baff-fay" in FRIENDS..All of the people i know back home say it MY way, so when they laughed at me saying BOOOFAY here and made me say it again and again..i jz dunno how to pronounce it anymore! Im sure both pronunciations are acceptable, but now i can't even say BUFFET without being conscious about how to actually pronounce it...i still think our (my) pronunciation is cuter tho..hehe
Anyways, that's what we jz had, seafood buffet dinner at Cronulla. We took Michael's parents out as a 'thank you' for all that they've done for us when we're starting up here. Food was pretty good, but the spread wasnt as big as what i was used to in Malaysia. Lots of prawns and oysters and fish and all, but lots of the same kind...eg. Just fresh prawns instead of selection of curry prawns & bbq'ed prawns & sambal prawns & butter prawns (mmm butter prawns...)...But it was still good, live band performance while eating and nice sea view restaurant. The funny thing about tonite was that Tom, my FIL, was expecting some sort of announcement from us. They thought we're pregnant!!! We planned tonite few weeks ago, we even sent out a special invitation via email to pick them up, without revealing the venue and get them to dress up..we made it a bit of a surprise and kinda special..So, when we found out from Vicki that Tom's been speculating what tonite was all about, me & Michael decided to play it up a bit. I couldn't for too long tho cos i knew i'd just be disappointing them! So i just told them that we're NOT pregnant yet, and dinner's really just to show our appreciation. We joked about the whole thing of course, but i know a bit of them was sorta hoping that the dinner wd come with a BIG news...Back home, my father's been expecting the same too...He didn't, well wouldn't ever ask me directly..but i know he's been asking all my sisters whether or not im expecting already! I would love to..really really...but i guess it'll happen when the time is right, insya'allah...
Last weekend, we went to Bondi Junction to watch The Simpsons Movie, in GOLD CLASS! Michael's such a MASSIVE fan...like, TRULY big..memorised every Homer line big...have MOST of Simpsons' merchandise - from Monopoly & Scrabble to thongs, T-Shirts & DVD collection big. Alll still nicely packed & untouched. He'd laugh crazily watching scenes he's seen millions of times and would say Homer & Bart's lines while watching them...kinda like me fanatic with FRIENDS and could watch it over and over again..but 100 times more for him with The Simpsons..:p He's been counting the days to the movie and when it finally came, GOLD CLASS was the only way to go. Not only that, we'll be going again next week (cheap day tix tho) and maybe a drive-in movie too....
Honestly, i wasn't that big a fan. I became passionate about it because Michael was soooo into it. Id watch it with him when it's on everyday at 7.30pm while we have dinner. Been seeing it more this past few weeks building up to the movie, with Simpsons behind-the-scenes special & cast interviews and stuff, i was getting pumped up about it too. Also, seeing the movie in Gold Class, im not saying NO to that!
Quite frankly, it was very entertaining indeed. I truly enjoyed it. Funny bits all the way and a lil bit of family togetherness loving feeling in it too..The absolutely fabulous comfy recliner chairs and food being brought during the movie made it more enjoyable of course!
It was a fantastic weekend. We took Jay, Michael's nephew with us and spent time around Bondi beach before that. Ive never been to Bondi before actually. It's VERY nice indeed..weather's beautiful that day, lots of people around but stil not too packed..some tourists taking pictures here and there..lots of locals too - kids, couples, families just hanging out..very relaxing..
One of the highlights of that day was that we had halal KFC for lunch!!! My first KFC in OZ ever! The only halal branch in NSW (i think) and it was on the way to Bondi, so we made it a point to stop and indulge! It was SOOOOOOOOOOOO finger-lickin GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!

Looking forward to tomoz! We're having lunch at Yuz's and a Pictionary battle of the sexes. Her friends Lina & Sanjiv's gonna be there too. So we Jawa Girls Team against the boys...Should be fun! Yuz's making Nasi Lemak!!!!! yea yea!! I made Caramel Slice last nite for tomoz. It was supposed to be in the fridge for a while before serving. But lots of it has gone in our tummy last nite while i was cutting them..u know when u cut the uneven side bits and some cracked ones in the middle that wouln't look good on a plate? We ate em all..We also both took some to work and it was a BIG HIT! It turns out pretty good, i tell ya...I got it from here:

We've been eating SOO much this winter season.. with NO exercise at all! Well, we wanted to. We tried. Every Tuesday & Friday, we're supposed to go swimming with Vicki. She's recommended a gym program by her doctor and thought it'd be more motivating for her if she's got company. So we voluntereed. First day, we checked out the pool while waiting for her to finish gym.. second time, got my swimmers all but Michael forgot his and kinda 'made' me not swim..so, we jz waited for Vicki to finish. The next time, my train was late and when i got there, Vicki was almost finished. Then something else happened, then another.. So up till now, we still haven't actually been IN the pool yet, just out the car park waiting for Vicki to finish to send her home. :p FOOD... man..i jz can't help passing the Fish & Chips shop (supposedly the best in the city) on the way to my train station without getting some fish bites. So almost everyday, id get some for me to munch while in the train and some for Michael when he picked me up. Not only that, almost everyday too, after dinner, we've been having homemade CHILLOS. At first it was an effort to save $$ from buying New Zealand Ice Cream Cookies & Cream Chillos that i looooove so much. NOT a good idea. With the easy hand held mixer i got for my birthday, i would blend 4 scoops of choc ice cream with milk & choc chip cookies and we finished the whole tub in less than 2 weeks!
Im going to bed now...54 sleeps till JB....aaaaaaaaaah...:))))
