Michael's Birthday
Last week was all about Michael. It's his birthday and we celebrated twice - with his family and another with his friends.
The nite before his birthday, claiming that his birthday has already started (after sunset) I gave him one of his presents - Mario Olympics Wii Game. This of course, is for my enjoyment as well cos i've just tried it at Yuz's the weekend before and it was loads of fun!! :p
I also made cheesecake that nite for him to bring to work. It was an instant no-bake one, made with digestive biscuits as the base and mixture of cream cheese, condensed milk and lemon juice as the filling, topped with whipped cream. I was not so confident to bake a cake cos last year i tried, it turned into biscuits. So, no-bake cheesecake should be the safest way to go. What's not to like? Cream cheese -gooood, condensed milk - gooooood, whipped cream - gooooooood (like Joey in FRIENDS:p).
The next morning, i woke up an hour early and made......ta da....ROTI CANAI!!! woohoo!!! This is no normal roti canai, it's my late grandma's recipe, using lots and lots of margarine. I tried making them before but it turned so keras kematu. Got tips from my sister and this time they tasted soo much better!! Had to use olive spread instead of margarine cos that's all we've got :p so it wasnt as lemak as how it should be. But Michael didn't know the difference and i also made fish curry to go with it so it blew him away anyway..yea!
His birthday nite, we went to Loftus and celebrated with the Laidlers. His mom made a roast dinner - leg of lamb with roast vegies and potatoes and garlic bread and gravy and all the good stuff! SO SO SO yummmmm! We ended with Pavlova birthday cake for dessert.

(The only piece of lamb that we managed to take pix of before the food's all gone!!)
Saturday nite, we went for Mexican for his combined b'day dinner with his two other good friends. There were about 30 of us in the restaurant and it was hectic but the food's good, as always!
Sunday was spent just chilling at home, laughing at each other's silliness while playing Mario Olympics Wii. I made more roti canai and with the leftover cream cheese & digestive biscuits, i also made another cheesecake that we ate all day just the two of us. That's a LOT of lemak between us!!! Oh, we also watched a Malay movie - Mukhsin, with subtitles, as an effort to brush up Michael's Bahasa skills. Again, i cried. :( Im running out of Malay movies now!

Rajin nyer you buat roti canai. If you're craving for good roti canai & teh tarik, do go to mamak ( on goulburn street ). The roti there sunggoh lah sedap as they tebar on the spot, and they dont use the readymade roti ( details www.mamak.com.au ).
