Food Glorious Food!

Daylight savings ended about 2 weeks ago. So the time difference (with M'sia) is now only 2 hours instead of 3. Subuh ends before 6am (teruknya, igt abis subuh instead of start subuh! erk) and it's already dark when we get home at 6pm. We're getting colder rainy weather, which in my case automatically means more chocolates, chips, junks and non-stop eating all day long.

That's exactly what we did last weekend, starting with a BBQ dinner invitation at Marc (Paully's brother) & Corrine's on Friday nite. Dinner was SUPERB! We brought our own meat for the BBQ but Rin made this really fabulous potato dish. Instead of the normal roast potatoes or creamy potato bake that people make for side dishes at a barbie, this one's made using just olive oil & french onion soup mix. So simple yet soo yummoo! We also had garlic bread, pasta dish, carrots and ended with chocolate truffles for dessert!

Besides the potato dish, Rin also taught me her super easy Sweet Potato Soup recipe, using just chicken stock, sweet potatoes & onions. Rin is one of those people that explains stuff with such enthusiasm and amazing facial expressions, u jz can't help getting all excited. So the next day, i made that soup for breakfast. hehehe..

Later that day, we had another massive meal. I made roasted chicken & tried Rin's potato dish and Michael made a huge bowl of his famous Taco Salad. We invited some friends over for dinner but because it was so last minute (Michael woke up and suddenly decided to call and invite his mates to watch footy & hv dinner), only Jake and the kids came. We (the 3 adults) ate so much! For desserts, we had Sara Lee Chocolate Brownie Tart that we bought from the Sara Lee Factory Outlet Shop just near our house (HEAVEN!). We couldnt resist the super sale they're having and bought a whole bunch of stuff - frozen chocolate tarts and blueberry danish that serves about 4-6 people per box, for only 99 cents each!

The next day, we took a box of chocolate tart to our lunch date at Stu & Mai's. They served us a variety of Turkish foods - falafel, hommus, stuffed capsicum, turkish pizza, turkish breads with different fillings and this one dish that tasted so much like cucur udang! They're all SO delish!

We had to rush our lunch cos we have a concert to catch. Went to Darling Harbour to watch U2 concert on 3D at IMAX! Im not a big U2 fan but i really don't mind them at all. This all came about after i made a comment to Michael last week about how we would never ever be in a concert together. (after me whinging about Spice Girls concert being cancelled and him going to 3 concerts already this year alone!) We jz don't really have similar taste in music. Well, i don't have any particular interest. He likes loud, can't-really-understand-what-the-band's-singing kinda stuff. I wasn't actually complaining, but i guess he was trying to prove me wrong and got us the tickets. 3D pun jadikle..:p It was pretty good. I never realized Bono and The Edge are oh so sexy :p Definitely not as great as being in a real concert but 3D's always cool!

Monday nite was pretty cool too. I catched up with my STF gal pal, Dila, who's here for work. That was the only time she was free so it was pretty rushed but as usual, whenever u catch up with a fellow Srikandi, it's always non-stop laughing and craziness. She brought me BBQ Curry Twisties (Michael's request) and i took her to the famous Opera House & Harbour Bridge and we had dinner by the harbour. It was loads of fun!

We weren't really that close back in school. She's more in the super smart, top scorer circle of friends. But the thing i remembered most about her is how she was known for writing fantasy romance stories (ala2 Mills & Boons gitu..hehe). I remembered begging her to let me read one of her stories while in our English class and like a bunch of 14 year olds that we were at the time, we were all giggly and excited reading her juicy work of art :p

After school, we only met once at our 10-yr reunion (which was a BLAST, btw!). And now, thanks to Facebook, we're back in touch again and managed to meet up in Sydney! Who would've thought? Eventhough we didn't know or share much about one another for the past 14 years or so, there's no denying the connection that we still have from the 5 years that we did have together back in boarding school. I was extremely overjoyed to get to see her again! Also, I was jz excited to have someone to borak2 in Bahasa with!! :p

With Dila in front of harbour bridge. Bit dark, but pics from her NEW camera should be much better! :p
