When Wii Get Together

Last weekend, Michael and I drove out of the Shire to meet up with our good friends up north in Chatswood - Yuz & Kennedy and Lina & Sanjiv for a lunch get together.

We've been planning this get together for quite some time. Lina has been itching to cook good Malaysian food for us which we, of course, politely welcomed with open arms. Most importantly, we've also been wanting to have our very own little Wii tourney to challenge each other ever since we bought the game about a year ago.

And so, the moment that we've been waiting for finally arrived. Days leading up to this meet, we've all been intimidating each other with our big talk of supposedly intense practice (or lack thereof :p) to go head-to-head with each other and show off our Wii skills. Michael has been pretty good and did some practice. I was a bit lazy and thought my skills from practising long time ago would be sufficient. I was more excited about the fact that Lina's gonna make us lontong for lunch!

We were very punctual, arriving at Lina's at exactly 1pm (waktu jemputan) and Yuz & Ken who live about 5 mins away from them arrived a minute later. We were all very serious & pumped up about this tourney! :p

Lina & Sanjiv welcomed us to their lovely new home and without wasting any time, directed us straight to the dining table for lunch. And yesss....there's lontong and sambal kacang and even the good ol fashioned AYAM GORENG!! Oh my god they're DELISH!!! I dunno how many times i tambah and with the ayam goreng just in front of me, it's soo hard not to have just one piece after another. Yuz made fake anchovies sambal for Kennedy who's a vegetarian and that was yummoooo as well!

It was also Kennedy's birthday so we suprised him with a birthday celebration. Yuz ordered this very chocolatey chocolate cake with white chocolate shavings on top that was just heavenly!

Look how yummy!!

Look at us drooling at the cake...just can't wait to eat em!

After lunch, we proceeded downstairs to their rumpus area where Lina has had the Wii set up. Everyone started to warm up (so kiasu!) and we started the game with the tennis doubles. We mix & match the teams and i think the girls won more than the boys..hahaha..:p

The boys getting all so serious at the tennis singles.

At one point, Michael & I played against Yuz & Ken and in the midst of an intense match point, she accidentally smacked him so hard with the Wii controller it was too funny not to laugh! We won that match, of course :p

We then moved to bowling and everyone did pretty well. Lina, who claimed she did not even practise and using lefty controller (cos she took over mine) managed to beat Michael by about 10 points! Kennedy won the bowling match with multiple strikes & spares.

Next it was time to rock n roll with the Guitar Heroes. It was Michael's time to shine :p He nailed each and every song at every level (except expert!) and smashed us all who kept getting BOOOOO'ed by the fake Wii crowd. It was around this time that we re-energised with some snacks - Doritos cheesy cheese corn chips with cubed cheese and my homemade chilli dip! It's gooooooood and soo easy to make - thousand island, tabasco, finely chopped onions & finely chopped red chillies.

The longest and most fun game we played was definitely the Mario Olympics. It was getting very competitive! Everyone wanted to win EVERY SINGLE TIME. The boys not giving any chance at all to us girls and they didn't have to cos we're pretty fiesty and we were kicking their as* most of the time! :p

Each and every one of us had our glory moments. Ken was winning the field events, Lina & Sanjiv were on fire at table tennis and i was the trampoline queen. ;) but the strongest would probably be Michael & Yuz, winning most of the matches and always being miliseconds away from each other's record time. (they had more practise! :p)

Husband vs wife - battling for a medal in table tennis.

Yuz giving her all for the triple jump event.

This is the FUNNIEST....hehehehe

It's the 110m Hurdles where Michael was leading the whole way thru but got beaten by Yuz at the last minute. :p

All and all, it was an extremely fun fun day! Our arms and shoulders are still very sore today from too much Wii action and Ive been drowning my back with minyak gamat everynite before sleep. But we all agreed that it was definitely well worth it. ;)
