Malaysian Life, For Now...
It's been SO long i don't even know where to start. We left Oz when Ayisha's about ..well hafta check my diary but very little lah...Now she's 16 weeks old. Im sooo bad!
So much stuff has been happening, with her of course. There's just so much to tell, im gonna try to start from the beginning without this entry turning into a possible chapter of a storybook.
Leaving Oz was a mixture of emotions for me. Sad to leave people behind and packing up most of our stuff away especially Ayisha's but also happy to be seeing fam & friends back home again. A bit guilty for taking Ayisha away from her loved ones but excited to share her with the rest of her fam & friends. I was also scared, worried & paranoid about her first plane ride and how she'd adjust to the heat and all, among other things.
But Ayisha's been making almost everything easy for us right from the start. She was good on the plane and handling the heat and weather really well. Her mum btw, not so much! The first few days of coming back, I was really struggling with the heat (yes, a bit ngada-ngada i know!) and i forgot how crazy & so rude some Malaysian drivers can be and how KL traffic has gotten so so much worse. And don't get me started on our lil visit to the Immigration Department - that's gonna be a whole different entry altogether!
So back to happy times...Ayisha's 1st Eid was a blast. She was the center of attention of course, being the littlest one and the one that everyone was actually waiting for to arrive from Oz. Ayisha gets all the attention every time and i seriously think no one really cares whether or not Michael & I came home for Eid. It's just all about her. Most of them just grabbed her and left us and we didn't even get a hug!
We also managed a lil family trip, just the 3 of us, to Langkawi. It was Ayisha's first family getaway! It was a much needed break for the three of us and it was SO much fun! We didnt really do much but stayed at the resort most of the time but Ayisha did SO MUCH - she had her first swim in the pool, she enjoyed her first sunset by the beach, she found her right foot, then her left and and and...she giggled for the first time! It was the CUTEST sound ever!!! The first time she did it, it took me close to 1 hour doing the same thing just to make her giggle again but to no avail! It hasn't been happening regularly yet. But she smiles quite easily almost always and it melts my heart every single time :)
It was also the first time that Michael had a lot of Ayisha time, which equals to a lot of rest time for me ;) Before we left Oz, Michael has been really busy with work, late nights and working on most weekends, he barely had a full day with Ayisha. When we came back, Michael still hasn't had much Ayisha time because she's always with aunties or grandaunts or helpers and cousins who can't get enough of her. So it was in Langkawi that they really got to know each other and truly enjoying their private times. A lot of people say that she's beginning to look more and more like Michael and less like me. I hope she'll still have a lil bit of me to prove that she's actually mine, like maybe the nose :p I also feel like she's truly adoring and enjoying Michael so much more than me. Like he's the fun one and i'm just the milk truck! But that's ok. ;)
She's growing up really fast, just like what most people say. She's like this little person with the biggest yawns and stretches and all other crazy facial expressions. She's also getting a lil bit noisy with all the oohs and aahs and agoo's and agaa's...She sleeps thru almost everynite now and often wakes up about 90 degrees to the left or at the other end of the mattress. Nowadays, she sleeps really late at nite and wakes up about 10 or 11 in the morning or sometimes noon, just like daddy.
A lot of people are wondering about our situation at the moment and how we could have a 6-month break. This is all possible because of the 1 year maternity leave that Oz allows, of which 6 months are paid. So yes, we're very blessed to be able to have this time off and thanks to my sister, we're currently staying at her place in KL.
Things have been really good so far. We've been catching up with a lot of friends & relatives and are still going. I do miss Oz a lil bit and i can't believe im saying this but i do miss work sometimes:p But when i look at my lil un, there's just no other place i wanna be but by her side all the time and im truly grateful for this opportunity.
I will definitely try to update more often and hopefully my next post is not about how Ayisha's all talking & walking!!! ;)
