Squeaky McScreamington - 10 Month Old
I have about 1 hour to try finish this posting before midnite because tomorrow is my birthday and i want that to be a different entry altogether. Yeah, sometimes i would like to make it all about ME but for now, while it's still all about my lil one....
It is very much still all about Ayisha. She turns 10 months 2 days ago. I don't think she looks that much bigger to me than last month but she's definitely doing more and her hair's getting longer and curlier too. ;) Here's what she's been up to:
- She's not only clapping to my 'tepuk amai-amai' or 'if you happy' song, but also to 'B-I-N-G-O', pattycakes aka 'air pasang pagi', Michael's silly songs that he invented and pretty much any other songs that involve clapping.
- she's also moving and shaking her body when she hears music from the tv, computer or when i sing any catchy nursery rhymes. The one that she loves the most is the famous 'Gung, gedang gung' song that i think only my family knows. (that's the whole lyrics by the way :p) It was my late grandma's most famous kiddy song. Im not sure if she invented it, she might've. But Im sure EVERYONE in the family have heard of it and have been singing it to the lil people in the family. I heard my brother singing it to his 6 month old the other day and yes, Ayisha was the one bouncing & moving to the rhythm. ;)
- She seems to understand and know some of her toys when i asked her to get them. The very first thing that i noticed she knows is her favorite book 'Snow White', given by her grandma. I started reading it to her when she's about 3 month old and would read it to her whenever i remember (not that often lah :p). Everytime before reading i'd ask 'let's read snow white, where's snow white?' and got the book and started reading. So one day, i started asking and she started crawling towards the book and pointed it to me. I got overly excited and tested her a few times after that by taking the book away and putting it amongst her other toys. And she went to Snow white everytime (well ok, the first time was totally coincidental cos she didnt go back the 2nd and 3rd and she was 8 month old hehe) But few weeks after that, she seems to know the book whenever i ask for snow white. It made me so proud & teary eyed and all! Like im sending her off to uni or something :p She also knows her toy moo-cow, Mr rubber duck from her bath, her choo-choo train toy, her handphone (well if u ask for 'hello, hello' and put your hand on your ear like ur on the phone)
- She definitely knows how and when to wave goodbyes now. Tho lately it's also for hello, hi and any other words where waving of hands is involved. Sometimes if you're lucky she'd throw in the flying kiss/blowing kisses as well.
- She puts her hp on her ear or sometimes close to her mouth and started to babble babble babble - like daddy not mummy :p
- When she plays with her tv remote (the one that's not working), she points it to the tv screen - ok, this one like mummy lah :p
- She points a lot now. Point to me, to Michael, to the door (when she's at home for too long) and pointing to the pictures in her lil books just like when i was reading em to her ;) Sometimes she'd point and babble and point and babble, and very cutely flipping the pages of her books
- Sometimes when she laughs, or when she does something silly and i say 'oopsy', she'll cover her mouth and giggle giggle ;)
- she's eating more and more...breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between. She LOVES grapes.
- Please don't judge us on this one :p She happily lets me pick her nose. heheheheh. She used to squirm and scream when i tried to get those annoying boogers out of her tiny lil nostrils. But now, she'd just lay back and let me do my thing. And once the job is done, we'll both be grinning satisfyingly and move on with our lives ;)
- Yesterday, she stood up by herself and stood still unsupported for about 7 seconds!!! go Squeaky!
- She screams pretty loudly now..especially when tired or when she couldn't get what she wanted. But easily distracted with something else, ie. taking her for a lil peek in the fridge.
The bigger she gets, the more it occurred to me that my oh-so-fantastic 1 year maternity leave is about to end. We've booked our flights back to Sydney so we're doing as much catching up as we can before we go.
We went to Kuantan for the 2nd time to visit my brother and his family. Again, it was such a great trip and Kuantan is just so very relaxing. We had lots of fun catching up with Aji & my SIL and the kids are fantastic. Ayisha was thorougly enjoying her time there & her cousins! This time, we went to the Bukit Gambang Water Park and it was so so much fun!
I also did a lot of catching up with my friends. Most of the time I'd take Ayisha with me whilst Michael work but sometimes Ayisha would be enjoying some daddy time while i went out with my girlfriends for girly things, more gossiping or even for some vocal therapy aka karaoke. I also went to my high school reunion which was also a fundraising for a dear friend in need and it turned out to be a great success. A lot of our friends showed up eventho it was planned at the last minute, thanks to facebook! And from there, i reconnected with some of my closest friends from school.
We've got lots of stuff planned for this next few weeks and we're gonna be super busy! It'll all start with my birthday pampering tomorrow (can't wait!) then there's a few get togethers and gatherings, hens party, back to JB and of course back to Sydney just in time to hopefully welcome the latest addition to the Laidler family, Ayisha's new cousin! (REALLY can't wait for this!)
Till then, here's more pics of Squeaky and Happy Birthday to me!!!!! ;))

After a dip at the waterpark wave pool. "Check out my curls.."
