Happy New Year - 2011
2010 has been a year filled with lots of happenings - here, there and everywhere and we ended it with a whole lot of love.
My relatives from Malaysia have come & gone and although it was very hectic and busy, we thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it. Ayisha in particular was showered with loads of love and attention from her grannies, aunties, uncles and her 5 cousins.

We went to lots of places to enjoy the wonderful sights of Bali, did a lot of shopping and had some beach time. The weather wasn’t so great so they did miss out on the breathtaking sunset at Tanah Lot and exploring the beauty of Ubud because of the heavy rain. It’s a shame though but enough reason for them to be back for another visit!

Soon after they left, we were off to Sydney for the Christmas holidays.

It was sooooooo good to be back in Oz, I didn’t realize I’ve missed it so much. I honestly did not know where the 2 weeks has gone. We really weren’t ready to leave.
It was a bit different this time because we have my SIL, Vicki and her family staying with us at my inlaws’. So we got to spend more time with them than we normally would’ve on short trips like this. Ayisha got to enjoy a lot of cousin Jack time, showering him with big cuddles and plenty of kisses, especially after ‘borrowing’ his many cool toys.

My sister Wa also came to join us from Sunshine Coast and it’s always wonderful to have her around. We went away together after Christmas and stayed at a beach house in Currarong, further down the coast. That was a lot of fun. Ayisha enjoyed a lot of sun, sand and a lil dip in the cold cold water.

New year’s eve was spent with us all struggling to stay awake for the fireworks…on tv:p We counted down top karaoke songs with a lot of chips, dips & cheese and Ayisha woke up at exactly 12am and although she was crying and I only heard the sound of fireworks in the background, I’d like to think that’s her way to wish me a Happy New Year.
As soon as we got back, we received visitors again from Malaysia - a good friend of mine from high school, her husband and their 3 y.o son. The last time we saw each other was when we're single and still working 9-5 but as with good friends always are, we picked up right where we left off. I am so glad they decided to come stay with us on their very shop trip. It was great catching up and getting to know her family after all this while.
We used to discuss & dream endlessly about what we wanted in life and what's important to us. We both wanted to travel a lot, we wanted to be home when we have kids, we wanted to have a well balanced life, accomplish something for ourselves that can make us financially independent. Basically have the freedom to do what we wanted and ideally, be ladies of leisure who makes a difference in other's lives and give back. Well, we wanted it all.
And now, years later, it was heartwarming to know that some of our many discussions and dreaming did materialise. We both chose and thankfully able to stay at home for our kids (for now). We're far from being ladies of leisure but are learning to live well within our means. She took a step further and founded her online business (www.kuihmalaysia.com) and i am so proud and happy for her!
We enjoyed having them around immensely, especially Ayisha who had a great time running around with her new bff, sharing food, toys and cuddles.
Now, everything is slowly getting back to normal and it's back to just the two of us when Michael's at work. She is 18 months old and has gained 1kg since her 1st birthday.
She is running (funnily with arms and legs flailing around) and stepping lil steps without support now, both skills acquired whilst in Sydney, with the help of cousin Abbey and grandma’s lil step in the kitchen.

Her vocabulary now includes gigi (teeth), bubur (rice porridge), habis (finish), finish, birdy, shoes, baby, kids, choo-choo (train), nana (banana) and is constantly having conversations with me – tho I have no idea what she’s talking about 90% of the time.
Besides knowing one dancing step to “The Single Ladies’ which is the hands up in the air part, she is now perfecting her moves to Hokey Pokey, Head Shoulders Knees n Toes, If u’re happy n you know it, fruit song and twinkle2 lil stars.
She’s still continuously surprising us and making us laugh. Like today, she was helping me in the kitchen and wore the oven mitts with an extra kitchen cloth on top, something that I do because the mitts aren’t thick enough. :p She also likes to joke around, like putting her pants on her head or hand in my mouth to ‘shake it all about’.
She wants to put her own clothes now and would end up with the whole ensemble of skirt, pants, top, singlet and swimming costume for bedtime – when daddy’s dressing her.
She loves playing outdoor and can throw a ball now but if I asked her to try aim and throw a bit further, like to a tree, she would walk up the tree and throw. She truly enjoys her beach time, playing with the sand and covering my feet with it.
Along with all the cute stuff that she’s been doing & discovering, comes the tantrums too! The worst so far was when we’re grocery shopping the other day and she was climbing out of the shopping trolley and Michael made her stay put. She was screaming bl**dy murder and all the other shoppers were judgingly staring at us. I just walked slowly away from the man with a trolley full of food and the noisy child. :p
The year 2011 has been pretty good so far and here’s wishing all a more meaningful, wonderful and blessed year ahead with lots of joy, laughter and plenty of love.

Do we have a problem?
