My Very Malaysian Girls' Weekend

It started last Friday after work, I met up with Yuz in the city to hang out with her. Ken (Yuz's hubby) is away so I was more than happy to teman her for the whole weekend. Yuz's been craving for chilli crab and ive never tried it here so we went to the supposedly best chilli crab in Sydney - Harry's Singapore Chilli Crab. Lina also joined us for dinner and we shared a 1.3kg extra spicy chilli crab which was soo yummmooooo!! We thought of having jz the crab but since Yuz got this 'buy 2 mains, get 2 entrees free' voucher, we went ahead and ordered mussels in black bean sauce, prawn cutlets and salt & pepper calamari. We stuffed our guts till they hurt soo bad! Very the pedas but SOO gooood!

After dinner, Lina suggested desserts (kenyang tapi curious, so yes aje lah) & brought us to this very cosy cafe in Randwick that sells heavenly cakes. I seriously could not eat anymore after the Harry goodness. But when i saw the next table had this plate of massive choc cake with ice cream - hw to say NO????? So we shared two -cheesecake topped with berries and choc hazelnut with ice cream. Unneccesary lemak, but very satisfying!

Saturday we're up pretty early, altho we stayed up pretty late chit-chatting! Yuz made me healthy pancakes using organic wheat flour, topped with bananas & blueberries with organic maple syrup. So healthy man! But only breakfast lah cos we're eating crap the rest of the day so...should be balanced! :p

Played Wii a bit after breakfast. Yuz's got a new game - Mario Olympics, SO SO much fun! we played against each other in the athletics and aquatics events. We wd've looked so silly if caught on tape with us swinging our arms and kuak lentang our shoulders and all. :p

After our exercise for the day, we head for lunch at Yuz's favorite food court in Chatswood. From the moment i stepped off the escalator on the top floor (where almost all M'sian food courts are), i felt SO SO SO at home! Malaysian food EVERYWHERE, Malaysian people (well, no mat sallehs to be seen) occupying all the tables and even Malaysian written dish on the wall - mee rebus, ais kacang, cendol, teh tarik, asam pedas. I went on panic mode sat, dunno what to order...Excited gila especially this particular food stall that sells halal food only and and and - they're from Johor!! woohoooooooo!! Got chicken chop Johor some more! We settled with Nasi Ayam and Ikan Asam Pedas. Mak ai!! SEDAPNYA!!! very authentic and tasty!! Pretty cheap & big servings pulak tu. Nasi ayam comes with a separate BIG plate of chicken, not that tiny size ones. The fish looked a bit small, but it was big enough for us to tapau. Still lots of kuah left and we didnt wanna waste it!

After lunch we head to the city and met up with Lina again. This time for our 2-hour KARAOKE at Greenbox (i heard it's adik beradik Red Box). LOTS of malay songs to choose from and 2 hours passed by so quick!

We said goodbye to Lina and head to The Rocks to meet up with the Laidler girls and Jess, for our Ghost Tour! Jess (the family's naturopath and almost like a daughter to the Laidlers) got us girls vouchers for Xmas. The 2-hour tour was EXCELLENT. The guide took us to some of the spooky lanes, buildings and rooms around The Rocks (the 1st settlement in Australia) where different stories of gruesome murders took place and sightings of ghosts of similar description from the locals and even previous tour participants. The guide said most on tour didnt see any ghosts with the naked eye but caught them on their cameras. None of us had a camera with us and that's FINE!! :p The tour was made even more interesting with all the role playing that the guide got us involved in. He gave each of us different props like a wig or an axe or a bloody hand and assigned us characters from his real ghost stories. So whenever we stopped at a venue/scene of murder, he'd call up all the characters/ghosts involved in that particular scene and told us the story. It helped when the participants got over excited and played the role really well..heehhe..

Im soo glad i didn't see anything, only a bit of spookiness (naik bulu roma) when we passed this dark lane where a 6 yr old boy was killed by gang members some 150 years ago. Vicki, my SIL got a tap on her neck while we're at our last venue - a basement jz discovered in 2002 and in process of restoration, where a lady was supposedly tortured and killed by her husband. The guide said that's very common and he himself got tapped lots while he's there and a girl once had her hair pulled back!!! TAKUTNYAAAA!!!

After the tour we hurried back home cos didnt wanna be out too late!! (PENGECUT! :p) We had our tapau asam pedas with roti for supper (sedaaaaaaaaaap!) and then watched a Malay movie! Wanted to watch Jangan Pandang Belakang but after that ghost tour i was soo not up for it! We also have Waris Jaris Hantu, i wasnt sure about that but Lina said it's NOT a ghost story so we bravely watched it...and i cried! :p sedey la pulak...so emo.

Sunday morning we had another healthy breakfast - yogurt & muesli..And lunch time we went back to Chatswood for our favorite Johor stall! This time we had Johor Chicken Chop and Kuey Tiaw Goreng Belacan. Nikmat sungguh! I even tapau one mee goreng for Michael. (Kesian if i story all this and he'd just drool..:p)

Left Yuz and head to the city to meet up with Michael for Matt & Cyn's Engagement Party. It was wonderful to see them again after Wanaka!! LOTS of people at their party so we didnt get to hang out with them much. But it's still good. Catched up with other friends that we haven't seen for a while, yummy finger food and the passionfruit cheesecake was excellent! We left the party early cos Michael can't wait to have mee goreng! hehehe..

Spent a quiet nite at home watching Brothers & Sisters - new season back on and it's SOO GOOOOD! Before that watched a bit of the American Idol re-run to see Michael Johns singing Bohemian Rhapsody again! sedapnya suara dia!! Comey lak tu..Aussies sebok le cos he was born Aussie (like M'sia sebok with Guy Sebastian from Aussie Idol :p)

I had an absolute fun weekend, making me missing home sooooo much more!!
