We're In!

It's been almost 2 weeks since we moved in and Im so totally loving it! You know the feeling when u very first meet that special someone and finding yourself falling more & more in love everyday? It felt a lil bit like that ;) It was a lil awkward in the beginning, couldnt really sleep that very first nite and woke up really early the next morning. But after that, back to normal, snoring away and so hard to get up and had to rush for the train!

The walk to the train station is exactly 7 mins. It's breeeeeeeezy! Just a straight walk passing other houses along the area, stop at traffic light, cross it, and the station's just there. Im on the train bout 10 mins longer tho cos our house is further south, but overall, it's still the same. I still leave the house the same time to arrive normal time in the city. Lucky for Michael we're closer to his workplace now, so it only takes him 15 mins instead of 30 mins to drive.

Michael has finished off the bathroom work completely and it's looking SOOOOOOOO fine! I would love to show off the before and after shots but that would have to wait till my next post when we finally got around taking pics of the bathroom during daytime. (well Michael insisted daylight pics better than flash lights, so gotta wait lah! ;)) He's very proud about this work of his! He's scrubbing the whole bathroom yesterday making it all so pretty. hehehe..

We spent our first weekend at our new home giving it a good clean - scrubbing, vacuuming & mopping the whole place like crazy.

I also did 5 loads of washing - clothes, rugs, blankets, EVERYTHING possible, just because i did not have to go up 73 stairs to hang my clothes or wait 4 days for them to dry in the living room! ;) They were all dry and ready to use before sunset that very same day! We get LOTS of sunshine in our backyard even in this cold winter weather and the distance from my washing machine to the big wide very Aussie hills hoist clothesline is only 2 STEPS! Now i can't wait to do another load of our week's washing! Ive never been this excited about washing clothes before, TRULY! And it doesn't stop there! Im obsessed with washing the dishes as well - with the old dishwasher that comes with the kitchen of course!

The house comes with a very old fashioned kitchen that we'd love to change but as we couldnt really afford a new one right now, we're starting to get used to. It also comes with a very old dishwasher that still works and my god! it's one of the best things ever invented! I know a lot of people's already using it but i didnt think it was such a big deal. But now that we've used it twice since we moved in (about once a week jek basuh pinggan! woohoo!), i don't think i'll EVER go back to doing the dishes the normal way ever again! My plates, cutlery, pots & pans are all sparkly clean and i just can't help smiling everytime i put them away, all warm and dry ;) (see, im falling in love!)

We also finally got the chance to sit down, relax and enjoy the couch after so many weeks not being able to do so. We manage to catch the ending of the Olympics the other day and it was pretty spectacular. We've been catching the Olympics on & off or having it on the background whilst we move or clean around the house. But it felt good actually sitting down with the many cushions on the couch and wrapped in a blanket!

I didnt really see any Malaysian in action during the game cos they mainly show Aussie Aussie Aussie, Oi Oi Oi, especially the first few days with all their swimming glory. I think the only Malaysian i saw was Mr. Aaaa-weeng (Awang) in the cycling. Other than that, it's Aussies all the way. They're really passionate about it and i can't help cheering on for them as well. The commercials by the main sponsors - Qantas & Telstra are fantastic too. One ad by Qantas is about how the athletes bring the voices n spirits of Australians with them in their suitcase at the airport leaving for Beijing. That's pretty touching. I think Michael cried the first time he saw that..hehe.. But still can't beat the latest Petronas Merdeka ad that my sister jz emailed me! sedeeeeeeeeeey!!

Btw, did anyone see that Javelin throw gold medallist from Norway? How sempoi & cute is he?? Others were so over the top with their throwing and even their attire, but this Andreas dude, wearing just a non-tight, non-fancy t-shirt, simply throw that thingy so easily with no dramas and no fouls! And won! New olympic record some more! So there you go, my only Olympics crush lah..hehehe

Aaaaaanyways..back to our house story, we're gonna have a lil housewarming BBQ this Saturday. It is happening rather soon cos we're trying to have it before Ramadan. The house isn't filled with fancy furniture or tasteful decor and we still have boxes everywhere cos we dont have any storage! We haven't even got a wardrobe yet! But if we waited for the house to be 'ready', it'd be ages! We're gonna be taking our time making the house truly our home. At the mo, we're happy with the little that we have and the hand-me-downs furniture, curtains and other stuff from family & friends that's helping us tremendously! We just wanted to share this joyful moment & have good friends & family 'warm' our home and of course, show off our very own DIY bathroom lah! hehehe. I know it's a long shot for my friends & family back home but if u guys happen to be in Sydney this weekend, let me know and i'll send over the invo!
